The EIIP Tech Arena featured a new software product, Emergency Manager. Guest speakers were Ray Nadeau, Business Leader of Emergency Planning, and Greg Bennett, Manager of Emergency Planning, from BC Gas, Inc.

Emergency Manager is an Intranet based software that allows sharing information and participation from any location in the world, any time. The software resides on your company's server, on your company's Intranet. The software makes it easy to manage, share and track events and actions as they occur, thereby solving the communication problems normally experienced during emergencies. Emergency Manager was developed by the Emergency Planning Department of BC Gas Utility of Canada.

EMERGENCY MANAGER

Emergency Manager is an Intranet, web-based software application that helps to overcome the communications problems that always occur during emergencies. The software makes it easier for emergency response personnel to manage issues and share information quickly and effectively.

According to the Insurance Bureau, the year 1999 was one of the worst years on record as far as large-scale disasters are concerned. Disasters caused more than 52,000 people to lose their lives and damage estimated at over $65 billion dollars.

Emergency Manager can help to meet the goals of managing increasing risks, exercising due diligence and responding with ever fewer resources. It is an affordable, user-friendly software application that enables organizations to globally manage, share and track events and actions as they occur during an emergency - 24 hours a day. The end result - time, money and resources are saved, and the impact the emergency has on people, the environment or the business, is lessened.

BC Gas Inc., the developer of the software, is a leading provider of energy and utility services in Canada. BC Gas serves 756,000 customers in more than 100 communities and has more than 50 years of experience in handling emergency situations, from small emergencies to major disasters.
